You've done the hard work getting your client loan ready. When a default or credit-file issue threatens to derail the application, we investigate whether it can be lawfully disputed, corrected or removed, then hand the client straight back to you to finish the deal.
At some point in a broker's career, they will meet a client with a credit default, and the usual assumption is that it's simply something to wait out the five years, no way around it. That's not always true.
A default has to be listed correctly: the right notice, to the right address, for the right amount, within the right timeframe. When that process hasn't been followed properly, the listing can potentially be corrected or removed, even where the underlying debt was genuine. That's the part we look at. We investigate whether a listing has been reported accurately, fairly and in line with credit reporting obligations, not just whether money was owed.
Rather than telling a client their file can definitely be fixed, our starting point is simpler and more accurate: there may be an issue worth reviewing. We'll always tell you honestly, early, whether your client's file falls into a category we can act on. Correctly and lawfully listed defaults generally stay, and we won't pretend otherwise. We do not promise a removal, a higher score, a finance approval or a particular timeframe.
Referring a client to a third party can feel like a risk to the relationship you've built. It isn't here. Our role starts and ends with the credit investigation, nothing more. Once the file is corrected, the client goes straight back to you to write the loan.
| We can generally help with | We generally cannot help with |
|---|---|
| Incorrectly placed defaults | Bankruptcies |
| Incorrectly placed black marks | Part IX and Part X debt agreements |
| Incorrectly placed court judgments | Genuine enquiries on a credit file |
Not sure if your client's situation fits? Send it through. The assessment is free either way.
We treat these differently, because the retention period is longer. A serious credit infringement can stay on file for up to seven years instead of five, so it's worth flagging to us early if that's what you're seeing.
Yes. We'd rather look at a file early than have you wait until it's holding up an approval. Resolving it ahead of time gives your client a cleaner file by the time they're ready.
We give the client their exact cost in writing once we've reviewed the file. Nothing is charged upfront, and nothing is assumed before that.
If we accept the case and it turns out we can't fix it, the client gets a full refund. They're never out of pocket for a result we couldn't deliver.
Every case is different, but the average timeframe is 30 days. It depends on the individual situation, so treat that as a general guide rather than a fixed promise.
No, and deliberately so. Some providers pay referral fees but charge the client an admin fee regardless of whether the file gets fixed, which can encourage defaults to be pursued that shouldn't be. We don't work that way.
